Slow progress of construction of Jambusar bridge connecting Bharuch and Dahej
It has been very sad experience since 2010, seeing it daily personally that the pace of constructing a Railway over bridge at Jambusar connecting Bharuch and Dahej is very slow and it is pathetic to see that it is taking years of years to construct a single bridge. But, I am sure that it is due to some internal issues between the Construction Company and the involved government agencies, it is getting abnormally delayed.
Whatever may be the reason, but this is very callous and irresponsible approach from the involved agencies including government machineries. Because of this, hundreds of trucks, vehicles are strangled in heavy traffic daily, sometime it becomes 24 x 7 affair. Now, it has become very critical and we have to face heavy traffic congestion due to slow construction of this bridge.
If a bridge even bigger than such bridge can be constructed in around a year time in a mega city like Ahmedabad, then why it is not possible in small city like Bharuch ?. What are the hindering factors, which are not allowing the concerned agencies to complete the construction of this bridge in time?
We are wasting lakhs and crores of rupees in fuel / energy, time and creating vehicle pollution due to heavy traffic, due to congention of vehicles. This region, especially Ankleshwar is already on the world list for pollution. But, it seems that we are at all not any taking heed from the past experience. Though, Bharuch – Dahej is very close to Ankleshwar, we have not taken keen interest and not aware of the after effects of pollution.
We agitate and rally for petty political issues, but here inspite of having big companies all across the region. No one is interested and not demanding a timely completion of this project and it’s really paining. But, we are least concerned with the issues concerning the masses, we are more engrossed in political issues. Ultimately, it is people’s money and it is the right of every citizen to understand the progress status of the Project and the agency, handling this project, is answerable to the public of Bharuch and Dahej.
Agency should publish the progress report every fortnight in local media and should take the remaining activities on war foot, as the daily commuters from Bharuch are facing severe traffic congestion problem and its taking almost 1 to 2 hours to reach either side – from Dahej to Bharuch and vice versa.
If this bridge is completed in time, it is expected that commuters can reach either direction in around just 45 minutes and above all, we can save lakhs and crores of rupees in fuel, time of all the commuters traveling daily to earn the bread and butter for their family.
At the same time, it is evident the government has not foreseen this issue earlier, as this bridge might be completed first before declaring Dahej SEZ – Special Economic Zone and developing PCPIR. Because, it is a part of basic infrastructure requirement as all the goods, raw materials and finished goods are being transported through only this route and this bridge is the life line between Bharuch and Dahej.
And this region will not develop that fast and pace, without the timely completion of this bridge. It is need of the time that all the agencies involved in the construction of this bridge, including government agencies should consider the seriousness of the issue and extends their team effort and full support to complete this bridge in time in the best interest of the public and avoid further vehicle pollution due to heavy traffic.
Let’s hope, that it is completed by first half year of 2013 !
Wish you all a very Happy & Prosperous New Year J
